We are working with two clients in different industries (a tech start up and a roofing company) who are finding new ways to get more clients and improve the customer journey using new media and online technologies.
Here are the five ways we see businesses in New Zealand move into with the rise of, or improvement of, new media and online technologies to increase sales and improve the customer journey.
Leverage AI-Driven Personalisation
In 2025, generic marketing is obsolete. It is preferable to utilise AI tools to analyse customer data, predict behavior, and deliver personalised content. Personalisation goes beyond using first names; it’s about tailored offers, dynamic website experiences, and targeted messaging based on user intent. Platforms like ChatGPT, HubSpot’s AI features, and predictive analytics tools can automate this effectively. If you see the automatization features provided by firms like Rize (https://ryze.co.nz) you will see what I mean.
Dominate Niche Communities
Now days, clients increasingly trust niche online communities (Reddit, Slack groups, or LinkedIn micro-communities). Identify where your target audience gathers and engage authentically—share insights, answer questions, and build authority or simply add a little value to the community you're in. This approach fosters organic referrals and positions you as an industry leader without aggressive selling. You may not see immediate results but giving value within niche communities is a good way to get started. Don't be afraid to share your insights and you will see that helping one person or business owner is all it takes to keep moving forward.
Master Video and Short-Form Content
I came across this great video in YT, from a builder who teaches techniques and gives insight about the New Zealand construction industry. Although not a short form video, the facts shared by this builder was awesome and I was given valuable content. In the case of short-form video content, this continues to dominate since humans get bored pretty easily and the dopamine hits are greater with shorter forms of visual stimulation or information absorption. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts are key for visibility. However, in 2025, authenticity beats perfection. We recommend you prioritise behind-the-scenes content, quick educational tips (I have done this in the past and works very well), and case studies in a digestible format to build trust quickly with potential clients.
Offer Value-First with Free Micro-Experiences
You have the option to move beyond traditional lead magnets. Instead of eBooks or webinars, offer interactive, value-packed micro-experiences—like mini-assessments, free audits, a short quiz, 10 minute group chats, or quick strategy calls. This not only showcases your expertise but also creates a strong initial connection, increasing conversion rates. I try this with clients and works magic because it is one way to tell your audience you can be available (or your team) at times where most business owners may prefer to stay away from. The key here is trying until you find the right fit.
Optimize for Voice and Conversational Search
There has been a rise of voice assistants and conversational AI, optimize your content for natural, question-based queries. We recommend. you focus on FAQs, structured snippets, and local SEO to see results. Additionally, integrating chatbots for real-time engagement on your website can capture and qualify leads more effectively than static contact forms. As as business owner you need to be aware and prepared to pay for specialist services from an experienced marketing and digital consultant to capture the right methods to be found by this type of online search.
